Shirer is a well-known and respected
sculptor throughout Texas and the Southwest.He
is one of the few artists in the region
who can successfully make large-scale
kinetic works. His favorite materials
are steel and rocks. Mr. Shirer has
taught welding for many years at the
Creative Art Center in Dallas and has
also taught at Louisiana Tech University,
where he received his M.F.A. Among is
notable commissions are ones by the
City of Dallas and Dallas Area Rapid
Transit (DART).
